Furniture designer Carlo Ratti Associate put together a versatile rearrangeable sofa system that allows users to customize the seat to suit their living quarters. The sofa, called the 'Lift-Bit,' can be transformed from a couch to a bed and even a full-on lounging area simply by reconfiguring the hexagonal cushions that make up the system.
The different hexagonal cushion seats featured in the 'Lift-Bit' can be used to create a honeycomb pattern since each side of the seat can seamlessly connect to the other. The seats offer a multitude of configurations that can be made in straight, curved or diagonal patterns to create functional seating that works within a fixed space. The couch can also be changed within an instant simply by moving the blocks.
