The Russian One or R1 tram is the nation's latest prototype that was created by tank and train maker Uralvagonzavod. This public transit concept was debuted at an industrial trade fair in the central Russian city of Ekaterinburg and stunned the nation's citizens with its futuristic design.
Resembling a space station from a sci-fi film, the R1 tram features a black exterior and an interior that boasts matte silver finishes. The sleek prototype has been nicknamed "the iPhone on rails" and "Batmobile" thanks to its bold design.
In addition to its spacious interior and wide seats, the R1 features antibacterial poles that are a dream for health-conscious commuters. The tram's poles and handles are treated with a special coating making germ-filled streetcar rides a thing of the past.
