Converted Textile Factory Studios

Productora Transforms an Industrial Building to an Art Studio

Mexican architecture studio Productora restores an industrial concrete complex that once functioned as a textile factory into a series of art studios with a new office in Mexico City. The studio has been slowly working on the project whilst also inhabiting it. It is dubbed 'Laguna' and now over 20 other companies have moved into the complex as well.

The interiors were the main focus leaving the outer part generally untouched with a concrete exterior. Jozz Gómez, one of Laguna's coordinator tells Dezeen that "It started to bring more employment, but also changed the neighbourhood. It was known to be a very dangerous neighbourhood, but after the project started, you can see foreigners, students, and young people walking around the streets."
