The Pringles Passport varieties are designed to tap into the consumer nostalgia for traveling—something that many have not been able to do due to the COVID-19 restrictions on all non-essential travel. The collection was first launched in Japan in September and following its success, the company is making its Pringles Passport flavors available across Asia in countries including Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia.
Through the Pringles Passport flavors, consumers have access to London Fish and Chips, and New York Cheeseburger. In order to come up with these products, the company's R&D team was looking at "popular tourist destinations across the world and the iconic food that these destinations offer." In doing so, Pringles is able to transport consumers to a different culture, without the need for physical traveling.
