This smoky vanilla bourbon pretzels recipe is a new take on a classic snack. Created by Jessica Merchant and featured on the food blog How Sweet It Is, the booze-infused pretzels are perfect for the holiday season and would pair well with beer or wine.
Despite not looking particularly festive or even like anything but normal pretzels, the addictive appetizer is made by adding a number of unusual ingredients to a bag of mini pretzel twists. The pretzels recipe calls for butter, bourbon, brown sugar and vanilla bean paste. The twists are seasoned with smoked paprika, garlic powder and crushed red pepper flakes as well. Described as "sweet, salty, smoky and warm," they could also make a great hostess gift during this very merry time of year.
