Abbott's Precision Oncology Products are Integrated in OncoEMR
Abbott has expanded access to its Precision Oncology portfolio by integrating several of its diagnostic tests — including Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score, OncoExTra, Oncodetect, and Riskguard — directly into Flatiron Health’s OncoEMR electronic medical record platform. This move will allow oncology providers to order these tests and receive results within their existing clinical workflow.
The Precision Oncology integration connects Abbott’s testing capabilities with Flatiron’s network of over 1,600 community cancer care centers across North America, where the majority of U.S. cancer patients receive treatment. As such, this partnership streamlines the process of obtaining genomic and molecular information that can inform treatment decisions.
By embedding test ordering and result delivery directly into the software that clinicians already use daily, the integration reduces administrative delays and the likelihood of information being overlooked or requiring separate manual entry. For patients, this translates to potentially faster access to personalized treatment strategies based on the specific genetic characteristics of their cancer.

Trend Themes
-
Seamless EMR Integration — Seamless EMR integration results in accelerated incorporation of genomic and molecular test results into routine oncologist decision-making workflows.
-
Point-of-care Genomic Reporting — Embedding diagnostic reports directly at the point of care facilitates near-real-time personalization of treatment regimens based on tumor-specific biomarkers.
-
Community Oncology Network Data — A connected network of community cancer centers generates aggregated, longitudinal datasets that can reveal population-level treatment-response patterns and predictive biomarkers.
Industry Implications
-
Clinical Laboratory Services — Laboratories stand to benefit from higher-volume, standardized electronic ordering and reporting pipelines that reduce turnaround variability and enable scalable molecular testing operations.
-
Electronic Health Record Vendors — EHR companies may see demand for deeper diagnostic integrations and decision-support modules that contextualize molecular results within patient histories and treatment pathways.
-
Cancer Care Providers — Oncology practices could experience streamlined workflows and improved timeliness of personalized therapy selection through embedded diagnostic visibility within clinician interfaces.
