Upgraded Molecular Testing Platforms

Roche Diagnostics Debuts New Cobas 6800 and 8800 Systems

Roche Diagnostics, a leading biotechnology and diagnostics company, has introduced an upgraded version of its widely used molecular testing platforms — the cobas 6800 and 8800 systems — with new software. This product innovation is designated as version 2.0 and version 2.0.1 for the software. It is now available in the U.S. following regulatory clearance.

Roche Diagnostics' upgrade to its molecular testing platforms is engineered to significantly augment the operational capacity of clinical laboratories. Key enhancements include a substantial increase in the variety of diagnostic tests that can be processed in a single automated run and the introduction of features that allow for the prioritization of urgent samples within the workflow. The system also boasts the ability to process both FDA-approved diagnostic tests and laboratory-developed tests concurrently, which aims to simplify complex laboratory logistics.
