To maximize the packaging's usefulness, reduce the risk of cross-contamination and improve the food safety of handling of raw poultry, Sealed Air Corp. created the Cryovac Sealappeal OSF AW ovenable bag. As its name suggests, the thin film of the hermetically sealed, leak-proof bag design for whole birds is made to go straight from the store to the oven for cooking. The design of the package itself, with a clear panel on the front that resembles an oven window, also seems to hint at the oven-friendly nature of the solution.
At the 2017 Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards, this poultry packaging design was recognized with a Silver Award for Technical Innovation.
