'The Bad Bitches' is a pop-up diner that is exclusively operated by women. In the hospitality industry, there are few establishments that are entirely owned and operated by females. This high-end eatery draws attention to the talent and skills that female chefs have to offer.
The Bad Bitches is a monthly pop-up diner that operates out of Charleston, South Carolina. Unlike other restaurants, all of the servers, bartenders and kitchen staff are female. The restaurant cycles through different themes such as 70s Luau, 90s Asian Fusion and Southern Wedding. Prior to each event, the group hosts an outdoor market that features artisan booths and food trucks that are all run by women. As line cook Rachel Pearce explains, "women’s organizations don’t get a lot of press when labeled, so we wanted to make people pay attention."
The event not only draws attention to upcoming female talent, but the group also uses a portion of its proceeds to fund a scholarship for women in the hospitality industry.
