When completely collapsed, the design becomes a decorative tray that can be used to serve snacks or used to display small items on a counter top. For a deeper dish to hold larger items such as fruit or miscellaneous baubles, the outer edges of the tray can be lifted to create the beginnings of a basket.
If desired, the sides of the pop-up basket can be raised further for a full-fledged hamper that can be used to display taller items such as long-stemmed flowers or to carry items for picnics and such.
