The Mio Smart Mirror Encourages Self-Motivation

Designers Nahyun Kwon, Dayeong Kim, and Mingyeong Chio work together to create the Mio Smart Mirror concept. It is made to create a more motivational approach when users are looking at their own reflections. People look at themselves in the mirror several times within a day.

The MIO is a mirror that encourages users to take a deeper look at themselves with the addition of gestures and controls. The lever is on the side which turns on the LED lights inside of the frame for a better light. The features are meant to be like a 'thumbs up' gesture to remind people to appreciate themselves. Additionally, there is a 'smile button' on the lower side of the mirror to create a minute-long video that engages with users.
