Subway Unveils Plant-Based Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich in Singapore

— December 2, 2021 — Lifestyle
Subway has officially launched its first Plant-Based Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich in Singapore, where it will be offered for a limited time between now and January 18, 2022.

The meat-free chicken schnitzel is being supplied by Harvest Gourmet, a Nestle-owned foodservice brand specializing in plant-based products and solutions. The chicken-like patty is made from a soy protein base and comes with a crispy breading, just like a traditional German schnitzel cutlet. However, it is worth noting that the product does contain egg whites, meaning it is not a true vegan option, hence the sandwich's surrounding "plant-based" marketing.

The Plant-Based Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich will be the first meatless protein option available at Singaporean Subways, which up until now had only offered vegetable-based options for vegetarians. In addition, the new product will be offered at all 50 Subway locations throughout the country
