Morrisons' “No Pork” Pie Has a Meatless Filling & a Flaky Outer Layer

— November 12, 2019 — Lifestyle
Over the years, people have been enjoying meat-filled pies over the holidays and now, Morrisons is giving consumers the chance to indulge in plant-based savory pies. The all-new vegan “No Pork” Pies are available from in-store pie shop counters and introduce the UK supermarket chain's first-ever plant-based "pork" pies.

The savory pies are based on traditional pies and have a flaky pastry outer with a completely meatless filling that's prepared with a mix of pea and soy protein.

As Steven Halford, a pie buyer for Morrisons, describes: “So many people across the UK are fond of eating a pork pie at Christmas. Our vegan and vegetarian customers previously couldn’t enjoy a pork pie but with our new meat-free product they can enjoy a great tasting alternative.”
