Intimate Insect Photography

These Pictures of Bees Get You Up Close and Personal

Rarely have there been pictures of bees that have been so close to the insect that you can see minute details. This collection takes you to a place many of us never want to be, and that is face to face with a bee.

The USGS Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab have used a special technology in order to take macro photos of the insects. They have a large collection of these pictures, and they have done this to allow people to get a look at the bees.

Bees have a bad rep, since they are able to harm us, we don't typically like them. However, they're an integral part of our ecosystem, and without their pollination, many things would die.

These pictures of bees have been designed to draw attention to the insects, and hopefully they make humans feel closer to them as opposed to being more terrified.
