A Period Party was launched by the New Quad-Cities burlesque troupe on February 13th. The event was meant to empower women, bring awareness to and support various organizations that seek to combat period poverty.
Attendees were encouraged to bring various feminine hygiene products such as "new tampons, pads, panty liners, menstrual cups, period-proof underwear, tissues, wipes, Ziploc bags, and makeup bags." The items that were collected at the Period Party were destined to go to Argrow's House in Davenport, as well as select local women's shelters. These resources were gathered to support women "who have [had] to leave their home suddenly due to domestic violence or for [the local] homeless community who have no access to products like these."
