The warehousing and distribution company, Performance Team, has recently purchased 16 Volvo VNR Electric Class 8 trucks to reduce its company's carbon emissions.
Performance Teams' new business venture marks the brand's largest sustainable purchase to date. The trucks will be used for local freight distribution across Southern California. This new purchase is in line with its ESG strategy, which aims to decarbonize its business model.
Performance Team has also ordered eight ocean-going container vessels from Hyundai Heavy Industries, which operate on carbon-neutral methanol. Jason Walker, the Executive Vice President of Operations of Performance Team, explains that its company has seen a 30% growth rate in its distribution business with a continuously growing consumer demand. As a result, the company plans to launch this pilot sustainable distribution program and determine the next steps in expanding its electric infrastructure.
