This peppermint mocha is a dairy-free alternative that ensures the lactose intolerant can enjoy the holiday season to its fullest. From food blogger Beth of Tasty Yummies, the at-home coffee recipe is perfect for people with dietary restrictions because it's also gluten-free with a vegan option. You can alter the instructions to make a hot chocolate instead of a coffee-based beverage as well.
The peppermint mocha calls for ingredients such as full-fat organic coconut milk, homemade vanilla almond milk, raw cacao powder, raw local honey (maple syrup also works), dairy-free chocolate, espresso (or instant organic coffee) and pure peppermint extract. A pinch of sea salt will also bring out the sweet notes.
The chocolate and peppermint flavor combination can technically be enjoyed any time in the year, but it's especially reminiscent of the winter season.
