The Panoramic House extension by MATA Architects is a timber-clad addition to a detached home in Hampstead designed to extend living space into the garden. The project was developed by London-based studio MATA Architects, led by Dan Marks, and reconfigures the ground floor to create a stronger connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape. The extension sits within a conservation area and was shaped around existing mature trees on site.
The structure uses timber cladding with large glazed surfaces that open the interior directly onto the garden. A tapered underside finished in mirror-polished stainless steel reduces the visual weight of the volume, allowing it to appear elevated and integrated with the sloped terrain. The footprint and floor level were adjusted to protect tree root systems, influencing the final geometry of the extension.
