For the making of its Överallt collection of home goods, IKEA teamed up with top African designers, introducing a vibrant new range of products. Beyond offering seating solutions, the collection includes hackable chairs that benches that encourage people to socialize. The range also includes rugs made from recycled crisp packets and baskets created with faux hair braids.
The new collection from IKEA was recently launched at the Design Indaba conference in Cape Town, showing off the brilliant work created in collaboration with top designers from five African countries. Rather than deciding to work with furniture designers in particular for this collection, IKEA opted to co-create with "people who are really getting out there, taking risks and expressing themselves and who represented the best of the African creative bug."
