The implementation of augmented reality into the mainstream market is becoming a more promising reality with the announcement of the ODG R-8 and ODG R-9 glasses at CES 2017 this week.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the ODG R-8 and ODG R-9 glasses are intended to be utilized for consumer applications for augmented reality purposes. This would allow graphics to be superimposed over the viewpoint of the real world for the user for a number of gaming and entertainment purposes.
The ODG R-8 and ODG R-9 glasses feature Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, and are outfitted with Glonass and GPS functionality. Dual microphones and dual speakers as well as USB Type-C and Reticle OS features are found on the glasses that are expected to retail for between $1,000 and $1,800, depending on the model.
