Assistive Kitchen Robots

The Obi Kitchen Robot Helps the Disabled Feed Themselves

The Obi is an innovative new kitchen robot that is designed to make it a little easier for people living with physical disabilities to feel more empowered by allowing them the dignity of being able to feed themselves without human assistance.

The first produced to be launched by consumer robotics company Desin, this kitchen robot allows users to be fed through an elegant and easy interface. Users can make use of a button to move the robotic arm between different bowls of food, while another button selects the food and a third button prompts the robotic arm to dip into the bowl, take a serving of food and bring it to the user's mouth. The inputs can even be customized, depending on the abilities of the specific user.

The ability to feed ourselves is something we often take for granted, but the kitchen robot ensures that this ability can also be enjoyed by people with debilitating physical disabilities.
