Cultural Modular Furniture

NKYINKYIM A CASA is a Culturally Inspired Furniture Collection

NKYINKYIM A CASA is a culturally inspired furniture collection created by Armando Cabral in collaboration with USM, expanding the Haller System through references to West African heritage and Portuguese craftsmanship. The collection includes a daybed, love chair, bookshelf, side table, and valet wardrobe, each integrating USM's modular steel construction with bold striped textiles inspired by the traditional weaving techniques of Portugal's Alentejo region.

Named after the Adinkra symbol representing resilience and interconnected paths, the collection combines asymmetrical compositions, vibrant color palettes, and modular forms to reinterpret the brand's minimalist furniture system through a personal cultural narrative.

Designed to integrate seamlessly with existing Haller System configurations, the collection reimagines familiar furniture typologies while preserving USM's modular functionality. Highlights include the geometric Uno Bookcase and the Bassarel Love Chair, which revives the classic tête-à-tête seating arrangement with opposing seats that encourage conversation.
