Consortium winner of the competition to construct a new congress center in the Netherlands, UnStudio takes on the project to further develop the Brainport Eindhoven region. The architectural design studio is charged with establishing the region as one of Europe's leading technology hubs.
Dubbed the Elysion Congress Centre, the build will expand an existing, similarly program venue, the Van der Valk. The decision to expand helps lower the construction impact on the surrounding topography while incorporating numerous sustainable features. The design includes renovations for a new 1,500-seat flexible auditorium, a new hotel, and a vertical foyer housing various activities.
To keep the existing building functional during construction, the congress space expansion is placed next to the original building, and the new auditorium sits on top of the conference center.
