The National Theater of Albania is being replaced by a unique bow-tie -shaped building, that's offering the capital city of Tirana "three auditoriums, a rooftop amphitheater and a public plaza."
The theater is comprised of two separate buildings that are connected by the main auditorium. This results in the sloping rooftop, which is open to the public. From the ground, the arched roof creates an equally unique perspective, as it creates an "entrance canopy for the audience."
According to Bjarke Ingels, the architect behind this space, "Our design for the new National Theater of Albania will continue the city's efforts for making Tirana's public spaces more inviting and its public institutions more transparent."
