This Chain Hired Thousands of New Workers on Its National Hiring Day

McDonald's Canada recently made headlines for hiring a staggering 8,900 new employees during the company's National Hiring Day. While this is the sixth year the company has run the initiative, the chain managed to surpass its hiring target by nearly 30 percent.

This year, National Hiring Day was held on April 6th at McDonald's locations across Canada. The "one-day recruitment blitz" occurs annually as a way for the chain to provide new opportunities for those looking for employment and as a way to expand the company's ever-growing workforce. This year, the company hired people for a wide variety of positions, including management, cooking, crew and hospitality. In total, the company broke the previous year's record by 1,920 people for a total of 8,900 new employees.

McDoanld's was the first company to establish an annual one-day hiring initiative and has since set a precedent for other large companies.
