Creative Office Campuses

Mother’s LA Headquarters Echoes the Surrounding Streetscape

Mother’s LA Headquarters draws inspiration from its West Adams neighborhood, where Shadow Architects preserved four existing structures to form a cohesive creative campus. The design uses textured stucco, aluminum siding, and deep roof overhangs to mirror the district’s industrial heritage while introducing a sense of lightness and connection. Each building serves a distinct function within the campus, including collaborative and recreational spaces that balance privacy with openness.

The Office of BC’s interiors emphasizes material tactility and natural light. Skylights filter the California sun across oak, cork, and sisal finishes, while a central marketplace with a living tree becomes the social heart of the space. The layout encourages both focus and community, supporting the agency’s evolving creative identity and reflecting a broader dialogue between architecture and the surrounding urban fabric.
