Effectively showcasing the physical beauty of money, these beautiful sculptures created using coins and banknotes are the work of London-based artist Justine Smith.
On her personal website, Smith describes her work as an exploration of our relationship with money and our response to it--politically, morally and socially.
The flower is my favorite piece. I particularly love the way in which the artist has incorporated the artwork on the banknote to enhance the beauty of the flower.
Implications - Money has a dual role: one, a representation of labor and hours worked, and two, it symbolizes the country's primary values and ideas. Currency is a great way to spread key concepts surronding national identity because of how prevalent it is.
