Balancing Block Tables

These Modern Tables by Okujin Yoshioka Defy Gravity

These modular modern tables by designer Tokujin Yoshioka will make you do a double take. The tables are from Yoshioka's most recent collection called 'Element,' and feature a series of angular shapes perched atop a central base. The result is a jarring look and gravity-defying presence. At first glance you may think these tables are made from heavy wooden components, but the trick is they are actually comprised of stainless steel and aluminium sheets.

The contemporary designer garnered his inspiration for these modern tables from the angular and unnatural formations of growing crystals. These are definitely one of the most abstract series of home furnishings I have seen in a while. The modern tables were created in collaboration with Italian company Desalto and will be exhibited at the 2013 Salone Del Mobile show.
