The chunky Model 543 padlock may appear to just be an oversized lock, but the robust design makes the padlock one of the strongest and most secure locks ever made. Created by the prestigious Bowley Lock Company, the brand behind the innovative Bowley Lock, this beefy padlock combines innovative design and high-quality materials to create an unbreakable lock. To create the locking mechanism, Bowley looked at older locks that required a specially shaped key and combines this technology with the pin and tumbler system seen more commonly today.

The design of the Model 543 padlock incorporates a dual-shielded 9 Pin core that incorporates more than 2.3 billion key combinations. This 9 Pin system makes the lock virtually impenetrable to lockpickers and can only be unlocked by the uniquely shaped key. The Model 543 padlock currently comes in three different models, including aluminum, brass and 17-4 stainless steel. All three versions utilize a 7/16" hardened steel nickel-plated shackle and feature a 1/4" thick hardened 17-4 SS bottom plate.
