Malaysian artist Red Hong Yi, known as the artist who "paints without a paintbrush," took to the world of cryptocurrency to launch her Meme Banknote NFTs. The NFTs, which are part of her Memebank series, will be auctioned off through the Binance NFT Marketplace. The inaugural Meme Banknote NFT is called "Doge the Moon" and pictures a mashup between traditional money and internet pop culture. The digital banknote looks similar to a Chinese Yuan note and features the doge dog in the figurehead section.
The Meme Banknote NFTs will span various cultures and currencies, including redesigns of the US dollar, British pound, and Japanese yen. The notes will be minted onto copper plates in physical form, allowing the owner to print unlimited money from the Memebank. The Meme Banknote NFTs story the meteoric rise of cryptocurrency and draw attention to inflation within fiat money.
