While on a trip to Utah, the artist was inspired to create work with his hands and to compose pieces that "celebrated the native color palette of the region's landscape."

The result is a series of mosaic mandalas that take their viewer's breath away. The pieces consist of river pebbles and stones, red rocks from the high elevations and dead branches from aspen trees. In addition to these organic materials, Matt W. Moore also experiments with evergreen bark and dried wild grasses that are incorporated into his pieces.
