Interestingly enough, this white chocolate and matcha green tea cake was inspired by a Kit Kat bar found exclusively in Japan. Created by Karen of the food blog HonestlyYUM, the light and spongy dessert is also based on a recipe from the San Francisco-based Tartine. The matcha and white chocolate cake has an "intense fragrant green tea flavor" while also having an airy and moist texture.
The layered matcha green tea cake has white chocolate whipped cream frosting and calls for ingredients like good quality matcha powder, chopped white chocolate and cold heavy cream. To really play up the green coloring, you can decorate it with flowers.
In addition to being a fun alternative to regular chocolate treats, the cake would make an unconventional choice to serve at a wedding as well.
