Elegantly Entangled Chairs

The Masters Barstool's Backrest Blends Different Design Inspirations

The intricate forms at play within the Masters Barstool are the artistic product of uniting the styles of three iconic chairs of the modernist period. Eugeni Quitllet collaborated with Philippe Starck to make this furnishing for Kartell, expanding upon the shorter dining chair version that was designed previously.

The knowledgeable furniture buff might be able to recognize references to the Eames’ Molded Plastic Chair, to the Series 7 Chair by Arne Jacobsen and to the Tulip Chair by Eero Saarinen. Their fluid contours and enticing outlines have been superimposed onto one another to produce void silhouettes that seem to weave together. The metal material is curvaceous and graceful, even though very different influences were intertwined and blended to make the beautiful Masters Bar Stool.
