Transformative Survivor Tattoos

Mark of Life Incorporates Radiation Marks into Custom Body Art

The nonprofit focusing on prevention, early detection, and supporting those affected by cancer, Fuck Cancer, teamed up with creative agency Mischief @ No Fixed Address to launch Mark of Life. This initiative connects cancer survivors to over 100 tattoo artists who donate their time to creating custom tattoo designs that incorporate radiation marks.

According to a study in The Breast Journal, 70% of women who received radiotherapy tattoos experienced negative emotions related to them. With this initiative, body art becomes a powerful way for people to reclaim their bodies, transforming unwanted markings into symbols of personal choice and empowerment.

Mark of Life builds on the success of Fuck Cancer’s previous Personal Ink initiative, which similarly helped survivors give new meaning to mastectomy scars.
