28 hologram models were beamed into the room where the Maisie Wilen Fall/Winter 2022 collection debuted at New York Fashion Week. The seven-foot holograms appeared in a dark room using the power of more than 100 cameras, and they were styled to remind of Monster High dolls. Complete with fangs, grills, pointed ears and boldly colored bodies, the models brought a sense of fantasy to the city.
While some of the looped hologram projections were set up to look as though they were interacting with the audience, others blew bubbles or released sparks of electricity. Although the runway show was set in front of a real audience, the presentation was entirely digital and so captivating that many stayed behind afterward to marvel.
