Swedish designer Love Hultén created the Magicos-2 as a custom instrument commissioned by a private client. The triangular design references the prism artwork from Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, translating the iconic geometric form into a playable electronic instrument.
The double-necked configuration houses a 1010music Tangerine module on one arm and a Lemondrop module on the other, allowing two independent synthesis engines to operate simultaneously. Nine amber teardrop-shaped controls are embedded within the white triangular body, while the instrument’s symmetrical layout emphasizes the relationship between the dual sound sources and the geometric chassis.
A detachable trapezoidal base contains the effects section, including a Walrus Audio Lore pedal for reverse reverb and a Collision Devices TARs unit for fuzz and distortion. A rose quartz pyramid illuminated from within sits at the center of the base assembly.

Trend Themes
-
Hybrid Instrument Design — A convergence of traditional stringed form factors with embedded electronic synthesis presents opportunities to redefine instrument ergonomics and sonic capabilities.
-
Modular Dual-synthesis — This trend of integrating two independent synth engines into a single playable interface enables complex layering and on-instrument sound design previously reserved for studio setups.
-
Aesthetic-driven Instrumentation — Designs that prioritize iconic visual motifs and materials alongside functional electronics open pathways for instruments to become collectible art pieces with premium market value.
Industry Implications
-
Musical Instrument Manufacturing — Manufacturers could be disrupted by demand for bespoke, hybrid instruments that blend luthiery with advanced electronics and custom control layouts.
-
Live Performance Technology — Stage technology ecosystems stand to shift as performers seek integrated instruments that consolidate multi-instrument workflows and effect processing onstage.
-
Luxury Custom Goods — The intersection of high-end materials, limited-run design and artisanal craftsmanship can create a niche market for premium, design-forward musical objects.
