LYHTY by Erkko Aarti, a designer based in Helsinki, Finland, is what many people probably would envision a tent of the future to look like. How it would fold down is beyond anyone's comprehension. Nevertheless, it strikes a sci-fi stance that is hard not to appreciate. The sharp lines and minimalist aesthetic is incredibly modern while the soft glow that emits from the inside warms up the rather stark and cold design.
Purported to beat the dark and cold days of fall and winter, LYHTY by Erkko Aarti can be used as public spaces outdoors on in the comfort of one's own home. The word 'lyhty' means 'lantern,' which the steel frame and fabric covering of the design mimics to a certain extent.
