Facial recognition technology is being introduced at London Gatwick to help the airport reduce queue times and increase overall security. The airport has been testing out the technology over the past while and will be running another test during the next six months that will see it be rolled out across the entirety of the facility.
The new automated kiosks will work by having passengers stand at the podium and have their boarding pass as well as their passport scanned in order to make sure it matches up with information on the system.
The introduction of facial recognition technology at London Gatwick airport comes as part of a growing shift towards automated solutions at transportation hubs to keep passengers moving efficiently with minimal delays.
