Bjarke Ingels of BIG and Thomas Heatherwick of Heatherwick studio recently teamed up to tackle the Google campus redesign project. While many tech companies are looking for ways to make their office spaces more efficient, Google is looking for ways to make its hub more eco-friendly.
The new Google campus will be located in the city of Mountain View, California, and it will consist of both indoor and outdoor working spaces. The focal point of the campus will be a series of giant canopies, surrounded by modular working spaces. The canopies will serve to unite all of the different spaces through integration with the local biosphere and the natural vegetation found on the site. The canopies will even feature solar panels on the roof to minimize overall energy consumption.
Functioning as a hybrid office, public park and retail space, the new Google campus represents a creative take on eco-friendly architecture.
