Female-Centric U.S. Currency

Rosie Gumataotao Rios' Project Pays Tribute to Leading American Women

Some of the leading American women in history are superimposed onto U.S. currency with the intent to empower demographics and advocate for the abolition of sexism. The project is boldly dubbed 'Notable Women' and it is kickstarted by a group of women from Google and the 43rd Treasurer of the United States -- Rosie Gumataotao Rios.

The well-meaning initative makes use of augmented reality to get its message accross. The leading American women that have been paid tribute to this activist initiative have been pulled from the Teachers Righting History database. This vault of information contains "a collection of women whom the American people recommended to appear on actual U.S. currency."

Positively liberating, Google also launches a 'Notable Women AR' app that allows users to point at any real dollar bill and visualize the portrait of a woman on top of it.
