New York-based designer Kouros Maghsoudi presents the Hug Chair, defined by its sculptural arms, which are meant to showcase the bold design nature of American aesthetics. The Hug Chair boasts a low-lying silhouette resting on thin legs, which support a flat cushion seat with bulbous arms finished in Italian leather.
Maghsoudi speaks about the silhouette and how it is meant to resemble a 'smothering hug.' "When you interact with my chair or my bed or my furniture, there's no direction on how to interact with it. It allows people to explore and do other things – it's open to the user," adding that the chair works well for posing and that its aspect ratios and scale are "very sexual."
