Comic-Style Cover Remixes

Kenny Keil Re-Imagines Hip Hop Albums with Marvel & DC Characters

I never thought I’d associate hip hop with anything geeky, but artist Kenny Keil has changed by mind by producing a series of album covers re-imagined with comic book characters. Yup, that’s Jean Grey from X-Men replacing the baby on the cover of Notorious B.I.G.’s ‘Ready to Die’ and the cast of Thor in place of N.W.A. on the album sleeve of ‘Straight Outta Compton.’ There are eighteen cover remixes thus far and they’re all pretty badass, with Nas’ ‘Illmatic’ cover parodied with Marvel’s MODOK taking the cake.

For those unfamiliar with Kenny Keil, he is a Los Angeles-based artist who frequently populates his personal website with fun parodies rendered in a comic book style. His blog is filled with pop culture goodies and those with a passion for street culture will find it worthwhile to browse through its eclectic content.
