Australia may not be known as a coffee capital but a few Melbourne cafes are now selling 'Jose Alfredo' coffee, an incredible brew with beans costing $5,000 per kilogram. Served across three Cafes in St Kilda, South Yarra and Abbotsford, this exclusive cup is often touted as one of the most lavish and distinct blends of fresh organic coffee. Every cup of Jose Alfredo coffee is served in a glass goblet and is often described as having floral and fruit flavors, with notes of lychee, passionfruit, cognac and cocoa.
Priced at $150 a cup, the luxe coffee is often compared to wine and can be as diverse and intricate. According to Martin Shaw, one of the owners of the three cafes, "While the world giggles at the outlandish concept that coffee can be diverse and special like literally any other consumer product, our drive to celebrate great farmers and their work endures.”
