"Peculiar, but beautiful" is probably the easiest way to describe the female subjects of these Jennifer James paintings. Black hair and ghostly white skin is still commonly associated with the goth movement, making the appearance of these entrancing ladies quite shocking.

Each one of these Jennifer James creations is titled with an alluring female name such as 'Francine' or 'Helena' and features James' awesome brushwork. Even if the central female subjects weren't in each of their respective paintings, James' ornate renderings of plant life and insects still demonstrate the emerging artist's great technical abilities.

Fans of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series will no doubt have a special affinity for Jennifer James' work as many of her subjects resemble the iconic character Death.
