The new ruling Democratic Party of Japan has proposed paying $3,400 annually for every child they have. The plan would help balance out the age of population (a quarter of the population is older than 65) and also increase the birth rate which is one of the lowest in the world.
Many citizens of Japan have been encouraged by this proposal to have more children, and I think the world would be doing itself a disservice by not encouraging the Japanese to pop out some more of these cute little guys.
