Omniyat a Dubai based real estate developer is planning a unique project for 2007. The plan is an $800 million, 23 storey residential tower inspired by the Apple iPod. They will call the giant mp3 player the iPad. It will be ready by 2009.
Implications - The iPod has not only changed the way consumers listen to music, but the way they perceive music altogether. The white iPod headphones now represent a consumer's status as a member of the music lover's tribe, which gives them a sense of a belonging. Thus, it's no surprise that the iPod has become a global symbol that is adapted in many different ways.
