This brilliant move by Marriott brings the latest in film and gaming technology into the realm of in-room entertainment.
As of late, Marriott has been staying ahead of the curve of multimedia and technology in order to offer the best possible in-room entertainment. The international hotel chain already partners with Netflix to offer unlimited streaming of Netflix's film and television library to its guests. Marriott has used a virtual reality 4D "teleporter" booth to advertise its travel experiences by offering passers-by virtual tours of Hawaii and London.
Now, Marriott is bringing virtual reality to its in-room entertainment systems. Marriott guests will be able to summon a VR headset to their rooms as part of their included in-room entertainment package. Simultaneously, Marriott is launching a series of "virtual postcards" which offer encapsulated experiences of exotic destinations: for example, a tour of an ice cream shop in Rwanda.
