The Mumbai International Airport recently launched an indoor navigation app that helps improve air travel. For many travelers, airports are extremely difficult to navigate. This system provides passengers with a tool that helps to ensure they do not get lost in the maze of airport terminals.
The Mumbai International Airport has already installed iBeacon, which relies on signals from strategically placed beacons to send information directly to passenger's mobile devices. The beacon-based system will work in conjunction with the airport's indoor mapping app 'Mumbai T2.' The app will provide passengers with information about their flight and how to locate the correct terminal. What is unique about the Mumbai T2 app is that it uses an augmented reality platform to provide passengers with detailed mapping information. The airport also plans to upgrade the app to add a taxi-booking service to the platform.
Because the Mumbai International Airport is an announcement-free zone, the indoor navigation app provides a convenient way for passengers to check their flight information.
