Heritage Apartment Renewals

RREEL Restores the Immeuble Molitor Apartment with a Free-Plan Vision

Studio RREEL has completed a meticulous renovation of an apartment in the Immeuble Molitor, the celebrated Paris building where Le Corbusier once lived and worked. The design process involved uncovering the original 1930s layout, revealing the architect’s spatial strategies that had been lost over decades of alterations. Staying true to his free-plan approach, the interior is defined by minimal sculptural gestures, such as a sweeping curved wall leading from the entry into the living area and a standalone column marking subtle spatial transitions.

The color and material choices reference Le Corbusier’s distinctive palette, combining soft blues, warm woods, muted reds, and exposed metal elements. These details blend historical authenticity with modern comfort, creating a space that feels both preserved and renewed. The project offers a respectful continuation of Le Corbusier’s architectural legacy, reinterpreting his ideas for contemporary living without losing their original spirit.
