Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei recently released its newest flagship device and while it is a capable contender in performance the Huawei P20 camera may be the best camera in the mobile market. The camera performance has already decimated the likes of iPhone X, Galaxy S9 Plus and Pixel 2 in their DxOMark rating with a score of 109. This achievement was made possible by the triple sensor lens setup on the back that was developed by Leica.
The Leica triples setup on the Huawei P20 camera is the first of its kind and gives the phone the highest total pixel count of any smartphone on the market today. The triple set up features two cameras bunched together -- a 40MP large 1/1.7″ color sensor with f/1.8 lens and an 8MP color one with f/2.4 telephoto lens -- the final lens is a 20MP monochrome sensor behind f/1.6 lens. The data from each lens and sensor is then fused using something called 'Light Fusion' to create a super crisp, high-quality 10-megapixel photo. The camera setup also allows for 4D predictive focus, 5-second exposure mode, a impressive autofocus feature and a massive ISO of 102,400. The Huawei P20 camera is also capable of 720p@960fps slow motion capturing.
